Safer Ukraine is a Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) non-governmental organization. Understanding that civilians and humanitarian workers are the most vulnerable and least protected in modern wars and conflicts, Safer Ukraine equips individuals, communities and organizations with the necessary knowledge and in emergency situations.

Safer Ukraine's Conflict preparedness and protection programming focuses on the following areas:

Civic awareness and training

Teaching communities how to identify and respond to threats from explosive weapons and other conflict-related hazards, such as attack drones.

Preparedness and risk mitigation

Strengthening local capacity to reduce harm and protect lives during active hostilities or post conflict stabilization.

Community empowerment

Empowering civilians to not only learn about local threats, but to also teach their own communities about how to reduce risk to ensure sustainable and autonomous risk reduction.

Safer Ukraine helps communities across the country TO better withstand the devastating effects of war, strengthening the long-term security, dignity, and resilience of the civilian population.

Mission Statement

Safer Ukraine helps communities across the country TO better withstand the devastating effects of war, strengthening the long-term security, dignity, and resilience of the civilian population.

Vision Statement

Safer Ukraine believes that sharing knowledge and practical risk mitigation measures, regarding war and conflict related threats, can capitalize on the independent and courageous nature of Ukrainian communities and enable them to enhance their own collective safety and security.

Organizational Values

Community

Ukrainian families and communities are the focus of Safer Ukraine’s programming. Empowering community members can dramatically reduce collective risk and make communities more resilient.

Contextualization

Communities generally know best what threats they are facing and what potential limitations are to risk reduction. Safer Ukraine will always engage local communities to ensure that we are attentive and responsive to the evolutions and constrains of the local context.

Mentorship

Risk reduction knowledge, techniques or systems must not be kept in the hands of specialists but rather made available to everyone in a community regardless of gender, age, career background or political or religious orientation. Safer Ukraine will seek to mentor its participant populations as well as within the organization itself whenever possible.
